Polling Concludes for Seven Reserved Seats in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly

Islamabad: Polling on seven reserved seats of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held today.

According to Radio Pakistan, the results show that Maryam Zaman Kashmiri, Sehrish Qamar, and Maryam Idrees of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have been elected to the seats reserved for women. Additionally, Farzana Yaqoob and Zubiya Khurshid of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have secured the other two seats for women.

Furthermore, Barrister Iftikhar Gilani from PML-N has been elected to the technocrat seat. Pir Mazhar Saeed Shah, also of PML-N, has been elected to the Ulema-o-Mashaikh seat. Abdur Rehman of PML-N had previously been declared elected unopposed to the overseas seat.

Meanwhile, forty-six newly elected members of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly took their oaths today. The oath was administered by Speaker Chaudhary Latif Akbar. The assembly is scheduled to meet again tomorrow at two in the afternoon.
