Lahore, September 26, 2012 (PPI-OT): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha has said that poultry sector is vibrant and fast growing industry after textile. It has immense export potential to the neighbouring countries.
He was addressing at inaugural session of three-week poultry farming training to the Afghanistan’s veterinary officers and students held at conference hall. Afghan and Pakistani educational universities can collaborate in areas like veterinary sciences, animal production and technology and poultry sciences to strengthen cordial relation between both nations through student exchange and staff capacity building training he remarked.
The purpose of the training was to develop the capacity building of the skilled professional. Two weeks training would cover the poultry housing management and disease diagnostic and its control. While another week it would provide hands on training and arrange tour different controlled shed and breeder farms. As many as 20 students of Veterinary Faculty of Lingarhar University Jalalabad and 6 officials from Livestock department Afghanistan would participate the training.
Coordinator Manjaj-ud-Din explained that Afghan farmer was lagging behind and facing sever farm management and disease outbreak problems. He said that Afghan people were depending on Pakistan because we do not have hatchery and breeder in this regard. Manhaj-ud-Din said that USAID project titled “Idea” would be helpful for farmers.
