Power Outage in Nowshera Town Following Scuffle Between Locals and PDD Employees

Jammu, Employees of the Power Development Department (PDD) cut off electricity to the entire Nowshera town in Rajouri district, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following a physical altercation with local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conflict began when a lineman from the department, Kewal Singh, was assaulted by two local men. The altercation occurred after midnight when Singh was requested to repair a fault in a transmission line. He asked for some time to address the issue, but the request led to violence. “They started beating me with sticks and also hit me on the head,” Singh reported. The injured lineman was subsequently hospitalized and filed a complaint at the local police station.

In protest of the assault and to demand action against the perpetrators, PDD employees, including engineers, collectively decided to disconnect the power supply, affecting the entire town and exacerbating tensions between the community and the power department.
