President Calls for Increased Efforts to Promote Tolerance and Interfaith Harmony

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for greater global and national efforts to promote tolerance, respect, and peaceful coexistence among people of all faiths and backgrounds.

According to Radio Pakistan, in his message on International Day for Countering Hate Speech, being observed today, the President emphasized that hate speech and discriminatory narratives pose serious threats to peace, social harmony, and human dignity. This is particularly concerning in today’s digital age, where such content spreads rapidly across borders.

The President highlighted Islamic teachings, stating that Islam promotes compassion, justice, moderation, and respect for humanity. He urged religious scholars, educators, media professionals, civil society, and especially the youth to play an active role in promoting empathy, constructive dialogue, and countering hate-based narratives.

Asif Ali Zardari further noted that addressing hate speech requires not only legal measures but also education, awareness, and moral development.
