According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted that the day serves as an opportunity for the nation to pay tribute to the courageous Armed Forces and the resilient citizens who have consistently defended the nation’s borders with unwavering faith and courage. The President’s message underscored the pride felt by the nation in honoring those who have safeguarded its sovereignty.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his message, recalled the events of sixty years ago when the Armed Forces, with the unwavering support of the populace, thwarted enemy aggression. He stressed that this historical episode demonstrated Pakistan’s resilience and its capability to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Furthermore, the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu, each reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the responsibilities entrusted to them by the nation.
