President reiterates nation’s commitment to safeguard rights of minorities

President Dr Arif Alvi has reiterated nation’s commitment to safeguard rights of minorities in Pakistan.

Addressing a ceremony regarding Minorities’ Day in Islamabad on Friday, he said Islamic teachings teach us to protect the rights of minorities and equality among all people.

Acknowledging the role played by minorities in the development of country, President Dr Arif Alvi said the government of Pakistan is committed to protect the fundamental rights of the minority.

He highlighted the distinguished role played by minorities in the nation-building process and appreciated their role in the country’s development.

Appreciating government’s role in protecting rights of minorities, the President said steps are being taken to provide grants, financial assistance, and scholarships to individuals and students from minority communities to support them in their educational pursuits, besides preserving their places of worship.
