Presidents of Pakistan and Portugal Discuss Enhanced Bilateral Relations

Lisbon: President Asif Ali Zardari met with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, at the Palácio Nacional de Belém today. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and fostering cooperation in multiple fields.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa welcomed President Zardari to the palace, where the two leaders discussed various matters of mutual interest. They emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral relations and promoting cultural exchanges and people-to-people connections.

President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to its relationship with Portugal, noting the longstanding cordial relations between the two nations. He extended an invitation to President de Sousa to visit Pakistan at a convenient time, suggesting that such a visit would enhance the friendship and open new avenues for collaboration.

The meeting comes as both countries celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations, underscoring a history of cooperation and mutual respect.
