Prime Minister Sharif to Attend ‘One Water Summit’ in Saudi Arabia

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will depart for Saudi Arabia today to participate in the “One Water Summit” in Riyadh, marking a two-day visit aimed at fostering international collaboration on water resource management.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Summit is a collaborative effort by Saudi Arabia, France, Kazakhstan, and the World Bank, designed to enhance global cooperation and establish a unified international strategy for managing water resources through high-level political commitments. During the Summit, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at a Roundtable, where he will focus on restoration, preservation, and adaptation concerning freshwater resources and wetlands.

The Prime Minister will use the platform to spotlight Pakistan’s efforts in promoting water conservation, bolstering climate resilience, improving water quality, creating livelihoods, and conserving biodiversity. Additionally, he will emphasize the critical need for international cooperation to address the challenges posed by climate-induced floods, erratic weather patterns, and heat stress on water resources and ecosystems.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Prime Minister Sharif is also expected to engage in bilateral meetings with other leaders and officials.
