Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Initiates Nationwide Anti-Polio Campaign

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has officially launched a comprehensive week-long anti-polio drive aiming to vaccinate 30 million children under five across 115 districts in Pakistan. The campaign, which starts tomorrow, mobilizes 286,000 polio workers to administer vaccinations door-to-door in an effort to completely eradicate the poliovirus from the country.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the inaugural ceremony held this evening in Islamabad, Prime Minister Sharif expressed gratitude towards international partners and organizations supporting Pakistan’s fight against polio. He emphasized the collaboration between federal and provincial governments along with these partners as crucial to the campaign’s success.

The Prime Minister voiced confidence in the eradication efforts and praised the dedication of federal and provincial officials, polio workers, and security personnel involved in the initiative. He strongly urged parents to cooperate with polio teams and ensure their children receive the necessary vaccinations to prevent lifelong disabilities. The event also saw Prime Minister Sharif personally administering polio drops to children, symbolizing the government’s commitment to a polio-free future.
