Islamabad, April 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): Professor Romain Murenzi, Executive Director, ‘The World Academy of Science’ based in Italy called on Mr. Zahid Hamid, Federal Minister for Science and Technology here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, areas of mutual interest, particularly in the field of science and Technology were discussed in detail.
The Minister apprised Prof. Murenzi that Pakistan was keen to promote research in the field of science and technology. He said that Pakistan has always played an active role in the international forums for the promotion of research in various areas of science and technology.
“We are working for Science Diplomacy. Under the South cooperation, students of member countries of Commission on Science and Techonology for the sustainable development in South (COMSATS) are studying in leading universities of Pakistan,” the Minister added.
The Executive Director appreciated the role being played by Pakistan in the area of science and technology. He said that science and technology was working as a tool for foreign policy in the world community. Through Science diplomacy the soft image of Pakistan would be projected in a befitting manner at global level, he added.
Mr. Kamran Ali Qureshi, Federal Secretary for Science and Techology, Dr. I.E Qureshi, Executive Director of COMSATS were also present in the meeting.
