Prominent Kashmiri Leader Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah Dies in Islamabad

Islamabad: Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Ahmad Shah, a distinguished Kashmiri leader and a central figure in the Kashmiri community, has died in Islamabad.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Shah was the son of Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Yusuf Shah and the uncle of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference. He was known for his lifelong advocacy for a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir conflict. His funeral prayers are scheduled to be held today at Jamia Masjid, Sector A, Bahria Enclave, after Zuhr prayers, followed by his burial at Bahria Enclave Cemetery, Sector H, Islamabad.

The Kashmiri communities in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have expressed profound sorrow over his passing, with many remembering his significant contributions to the religious and cultural life of the region. Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, President of Jammu and Kashmir Anjuman Sharie Shian, issued a statement from Srinagar mourning Shah’s death, highlighting his scholarly and preaching work as unforgettable.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter also conveyed their condolences, with leaders like Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, and others acknowledging Shah’s impact on the community and extending their support to his family during this difficult time.
