Punjab Assembly passed 68 bills & 33 ordinances during last two & half years

Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information, Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that protection of civil, political and social rights of the people can only be ensured through effective legislation.

Addressing a new conference flanked by Provincial Law Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja in Lahore on Wednesday, she said the government will ensure protection of rights of people living in southern Punjab.

She said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government is taking measures for the welfare of underprivileged segments of the society.

Speaking on this occasion, Basharat Raja said that Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar have a vision to legislate for the betterment of common man.

He said that the Punjab Assembly, despite having the largest opposition in the history, has enacted the most legislation in the country.

He said the Assembly also passed 68 important bills and 33 ordinances during the last two and half years.

Basharat Raja said the old rules and regulations are being updated with necessary amendments to improve the efficiency of the provincial departments.

He said the government has amended the Sugar Control Act of 1950 to stop the years long exploitation of farmers by the sugar mafia.

Basharat Raja said the new Local Government Act will transfer powers to the grassroots level across the province.
