Punjab CM Imposes Immediate Ban on Chopping of Trees in Forests

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has imposed an immediate ban on chopping of trees in forests and auctioning timber across the province. The directive aims to curb deforestation and preserve the natural environment.

According to Radio Pakistan, the traditional timber auction system has been halted to prevent further deforestation. This decision is part of a broader initiative to protect forested areas in Punjab. The government plans to introduce new regulations that will be developed using modern technology and mapping techniques. These measures are expected to enhance the management and conservation of forest resources in the region.
