Punjab CM Seeks Comprehensive Relief Plan for Flood-Hit Families

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called for a comprehensive rehabilitation package for families affected by recent floods. Chairing a meeting in Lahore, she directed the Urban Unit, Board of Revenue, and other concerned departments to take immediate action.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Chief Minister stressed the urgent need for a Master Plan to mitigate the impact of floods and other natural disasters in Punjab. She also ordered that the rehabilitation survey be completed promptly through a transparent and digitally recorded process.

The Chief Minister directed the removal of encroachments and illegal settlements along waterways. It was agreed during the meeting to designate riverbeds and streams as “red zones” where construction would be prohibited.

It was further decided that the reconstruction of flood-damaged homes would be incorporated into the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing initiative.
