Punjab Police Confirms Promotion of 118 Inspectors

Lahore, In a significant development within the Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, Inspector General of Police Punjab, has confirmed the promotion of officiating inspectors, resolving a long-standing halt in the process. This decision has affected 118 inspectors, initially promoted in 2019/20 but whose confirmation was pending.

According to Punjab Police, the confirmation comes after a thorough review of the officers’ records, ensuring compliance with legal standards. The move paves the way for filling 172 vacant inspector positions in the General Executive Branch of Punjab Police. The confirmed sub-inspectors’ records, dating back to 2012, have been requested for promotion consideration. This directive from IG Punjab includes all Regional Police Officers and the Capital City Police Officer of Lahore, highlighting an imminent departmental promotion board meeting to further promotions based on merit.

Dr. Usman Anwar also mentioned that the Punjab Public Service Commission has completed a written examination for Inspector Legal positions, with the results and candidate list expected to be announced shortly. This step marks a significant progression in the internal structuring and promotion dynamics of the Punjab Police force.
