Punjab Police Eliminates Wanted Criminals in Rahim Yar Khan Operation

Rahim Yar Khan: In a strategic operation by Punjab Police in the Chowk Shahbaz Pur area, two notorious criminals, Nasir alias Meela Lathani and Tariq Jhkarani, were neutralized. These individuals were implicated in serious crimes, including the killing of police officers.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 08 October 2024, the operation was initiated based on reliable intelligence about the presence of Kacha criminals in the area. As the police approached, the criminals engaged in a firefight, during which both were fatally injured. The deceased were previously sought for their involvement in the death of police constable Akbar Gopang, attacks on police personnel, and several robberies. The confrontation also led to the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition, although some accomplices managed to flee the scene. A comprehensive search is ongoing, involving a significant deployment of police resources, including elite commandos and advanced tactical equipment.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has commended DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal and the involved officers for their courage and effectiveness in confronting Kacha region criminality. Dr. Anwar reiterated the commitment to continue targeted operations to secure the area fully.
