Qaim directs authorities concerned to re-visit Bhambore Dairy Farm and processing zone for meat animals project

Karachi, March 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the authorities concerned to re-visit and refine the “Bhambore Dairy Farm (Village) and processing zone for meat Animals” project which is being implemented at Tapo Jung Shahi Distt Thatta about 68 K.M from Karachi with its estimated cast of Rs 2.8 billion and asked the planners to make it more attractive / viable for heavy investment from private sector.

This he directed while presiding over meeting to discuss the modalities of implementation on this project held at Chief Minister House Karachi today. The Sindh Minister for live stock and fisheries Jam Khan Shoro, Principal Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar and other Secretaries form livestock, planning and development and finance department attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Sindh province was rich with live stock and Agro oriented resources. He said that in order to exploit these resources, for the betterment for farming and breeder communities and encourage the local and foreign investment in the province his govt has planned to establish Bhambhore Dairy Farm (Village) and meet processing zone for meat animal at Jungshahi Distt Thatta on modern lines.

He said the first phase of this project would be spread over 1300 acres with all infrastructure facilities being laid down at the cost of Rs 2.8 billion. The Chief Minister during the deliberation , directed the executing authorities to ensure that all the infrastructure facilities including supply of water and fodder for animals are so standard and qualitative which to attract foreign investors to invest.

He said that this project would not only to cater the milk and meat needs of Karachi, Thatta and other neighbouring districts but also have potential to export its product to the countries in middle east he said that during the operation this project to generate 2000 to 3000 direct jobs and income / employment opportunities to many more people in the area indirectly.

He said that this project to be proved as beneficial especially for rural communities and way forward for progressive farmers breeders to invest and export. The Chief Minister Sindh directed the officers to expedite the working and gets this project completed within the tenure of this PPP govt.

While participating in deliberation and briefing the meeting the Sindh Minister Jam Khan Shoro informed that the work on the project which was halted because of some technical formalities is now being re started within weeks.

He said that till date Rs 621.634 million have been utilized on the project. He said that as par PC-I this project is divided into two zones each for milk and meat production. He said that in Milk Zone 100 plots, each of 5 acres with capacity to camp 200 to 400 buffaloes and the produce 2 lakh to 4 lakh litres milk par day from all and providing facility of milk processing and chilling plant similarly in meat zone other 100 plots each of 3 acres with housing capacity of 50 meat animal and facility of slaughter house, processing and chilling plant are being developed.

He said that after completion, these plots would be provided / leased out to the private sector to operate under PPP mode. He said that other facilities including veterinary hospital quality control laboratories for milk / meat / fodder, live stock market , feed mills, fodders and wheat Chaff, Bio Gas plant Area, staff residential with all basic facilities are include in the planning.

The Minister for live stock Jam Khan Shoro said that interestingly this project would be unique one and first project which to utilize its own renewable energy sources, likewise wind, solar and Bio Gas Energy by virtue of its site which falls in wind corridor and production of Gobbar at large scale. The Minister assured that project would be made operation able within one to two years.
