Quetta: Directed by the Chief Secretary of Balochistan, the polio vaccination campaign in Hub district, straddling the border of Sindh and Balochistan, commenced today, targeting children under five years of age. Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ali Raza Khosa and Assistant Commissioner Hub Hamza Balo spearheaded the initiative at the EPI Center Hub, with the campaign involving 326 teams across four tehsils.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Dr. Nazirrunja, District National Staff Officer Rizal Hub, briefed that the campaign setup includes 18 transit point vaccine centers within the district. He highlighted the appointment of 80 area in-charges and 28 UC monitors to ensure comprehensive coverage of the 25 union councils involved. Deputy Commissioner Hub, Ruhana Gul Kakar, overseeing the campaign, emphasized the need for effective management to reach approximately 90,825 children. She expressed concerns over previous monitoring efforts and has adjusted strategies to improve campaign effectiveness. Security measures are enforced strictly to protect staff during this Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID) event.
Kakar also stressed the importance of community involvement, including parents, scholars, civil society, and media, in ensuring the campaign’s success. The ongoing efforts in Hub and neighboring Lasbela district are part of a broader regional push against polio, supported by special initiatives from Commissioner Kalat Division Muhammad Naeem Baza.
