Chaman Launches Intensive Seven-Day Anti-Polio Drive

Chaman: Captain Retired Raja Athar Abbas, Deputy Commissioner of Chaman, kick-started a seven-day anti-polio campaign by administering vaccine drops to a child at the newly inaugurated DHQ Hospital. The campaign aims to vaccinate 87,000 children in the Chaman district against polio, with over four hundred teams mobilized for this purpose.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, during a media interview, DC Abbas emphasized the critical nature of the vaccination effort, urging parents to cooperate with the initiative designed to protect Pakistan’s future generations from disability. He issued stringent directives to ensure no child up to five years of age misses out on the vaccine, with severe consequences outlined for any negligence by polio officers and workers. Abbas also addressed parental hesitations and misinformation surrounding the vaccine, asserting the safety and importance of the campaign for national health.

Additional measures include the engagement of security forces to accompany polio teams, ensuring their safety until the campaign’s conclusion. AC Chaman Imtiaz Ali Baloch directed that these teams also operate at national highway checkpoints to reach children traveling or in remote areas, underscoring the comprehensive nature of this public health drive.
