Resistance leaders detained in houses, jails

Srinagar, August 05, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, occupation authorities have placed top resistance leaders Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention and arrested Muhammad Yasin Malik in Srinagar as Valley is observing a complete shutdown against the assault on special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Syed Ali Gilani continues to be confined to his Hyderpora residence, while Mirwaiz has been placed under house arrest at his Nigeen residence in Srinagar, today. Muhammad Yasin Malik was arrested in a police raid. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has also been put under house arrest. These leaders were detained in a bid to stop them from leading protests over the assault on Article-35A.

The authorities also arrested Hurriyat leaders Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani from their residences, today. Other leaders including Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui, Zafar Akbar Butt and Javed Ahmad Mir have been placed under house arrest.
