Rupee Slumps Against Major Currencies, Dollar Nears PKR 283

Islamabad: The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) continued its downward trajectory against major international currencies, with the US dollar nearing the PKR 283 mark in the interbank market on September 15, 2025.

The greenback traded between PKR 281.95 and PKR 282.55, according to data released by the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP).

The British pound also strengthened against the PKR, fluctuating between PKR 384.00 and PKR 387.55. The Euro saw similar gains, trading within the PKR 331.53 to PKR 334.80 range.

The Japanese Yen also saw a slight increase, trading between PKR 1.88 and PKR 1.94. Among regional currencies, the UAE Dirham rose, reaching between PKR 77.27 and PKR 78.08, while the Saudi Riyal climbed to between PKR 75.38 and PKR 76.01.

In the interbank market, the dollar concluded the trading day between PKR 281.52 and PKR 281.72, according to ECAP. These figures reflect a continuing weakening of the Pakistani currency against major global and regional currencies.
