Sehrai condemns illegal arrest of party activists in IOK

Srinagar, March 17, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has condemned the illegal arrest of party activists, Danish Mushtaq Malik, Syed Imtiyaz Haider and Bashir Ahmed. Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar also denounced the continued illegal detention of party activist, Nasir Abdullah for last five years. He has been detained in Pattan Police station despite PSA has been quashed against him.

He said that it is extremely unwise to deny political space and muzzle genuine voices. He said Kashmir has been turned into a concentration camp where people are detained against frivolous charges. He expressed concern over fresh arrest spree, harassment and humiliation during daily nocturnal raids. He denounced the authorities for evolving explosive situations in the territory and highhandedness against peaceful citizens.

Ashraf Sehrai deplored that whosoever raises the voice against repression and calls for early Kashmir resolution is being booked under draconian laws. He said people of Kashmir would never surrender and would continue their political struggle till taking it to its logical conclusion. He appealed to the international human rights organizations to take cognizance of unabated arrests and re-arresting detainees and use their influence to check lawlessness and violations of court orders in territory.
