Senate and National Assembly Approve Key Defence Bills for 2026

Islamabad: The Senate today passed “The National Command Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2026” and “The Defence Forces of Pakistan Bill, 2026”. This legislative development marks a significant step in the enhancement of Pakistan’s national security framework.

According to Radio Pakistan, the National Assembly has also approved the same bills, reinforcing the legislative consensus on matters pertaining to national defense and command authority. The approval of these bills by both houses of Parliament underscores a unified commitment to strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.

In addition, the National Assembly was informed about the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) plan to establish an education city in the federal capital. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, responding to a question during the Question Hour, highlighted the CDA’s initiative to relocate over 300 schools from residential areas to designated sites. This move aims to enhance educational infrastructure while addressing urban planning concerns.

The Senate and National Assembly will reconvene tomorrow for further legislative proceedings.
