Senate Approves Four Legislative Measures, Addresses Public Health Concerns

Islamabad: In a significant legislative session today, the Senate of Pakistan passed four key bills aimed at enhancing various administrative and legal frameworks within the country.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the bills passed include The Apostille Bill, 2024, The Privatization Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2024, The Establishment of Telecommunication Appellate Tribunal Bill, 2024, and The Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, 2024. Additionally, The Cannabis Control and Regulatory Authority Bill, 2024 was referred to the relevant Standing Committee for further scrutiny.

During the session, Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar responded to concerns raised about the spread of Mpox in the country. He reported that the government has detected five cases so far and has taken substantial measures to control its spread. A screening system has been implemented at airports, and testing kits have been distributed as part of the national response to the health concern.
