Senate Continues Deliberations on 27th Constitutional Amendment

Islamabad: The Senate is continuing discussion on the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Senators on the treasury benches supported the constitutional amendment, emphasizing its potential to establish a federal constitutional court that will help reduce the backlog of cases in the Supreme Court. They stated that this constitutional amendment will serve as a milestone for the supremacy of the constitution and the strengthening of democracy.

According to Radio Pakistan, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Law and Justice, Farooq Hamid Naek, presented the committee’s report on the 27th Constitutional Amendment before the House. The Chairman highlighted that the committee’s report reflects collective wisdom and a bipartisan spirit aimed at reinforcing the constitutional order. He also stressed the importance of ensuring the independence, integrity, and accountability of the judicial system.
