SESSI Announces New Industrial Registrations in North Karachi

Karachi: Commissioner of Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI), Miandad Rahoojo, has announced the initiation of new industrial registrations in the North Karachi Industrial Area, urging industrialists to register their factories with SESSI without fear of old dues being collected. SESSI will begin demanding workers’ contribution payments from the date of the worker’s registration, and changes are underway in the audit procedure for registered units.

According to North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Miandad Rahoojo made the announcement during a meeting with President Faisal Moiz Khan and other members of the organization. A facilitation desk will be established at the North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) to ensure effective communication between SESSI and industrialists, with a SESSI representative available at all times.

During the meeting, SESSI Regional Director, Senior Vice President of NKATI Shabeer Ismail, and Vice President Naeem Haider were present. Miandad Rahoojo noted that 70% of SESSI’s budget is allocated for healthcare services for registered workers. He highlighted the institution’s collaboration with NKATI to upgrade the NKATI Welfare Hospital, emphasizing that despite limitations, beds in their hospitals are consistently in use.

Rahoojo also mentioned an opportunity for arbitration at the Association’s office before issuing notices under section 81, with action to be taken against officers conducting visits twice a year. He indicated plans to upgrade SESSI’s dispensaries and establish model operation theaters in its hospitals, alongside agreements with local universities for laboratory tests.

NKATI’s President, Faisal Moiz Khan, expressed support for the SESSI initiatives and stressed the need for modern medical services in SESSI hospitals. He advocated for industrial workers’ access to major hospitals in the city through SESSI-provided insurance cards and reiterated that no registered employers should face undue pressure regarding contributions.
