Severe Heat Wave grip Pakistan: 49°C Temperature recorded in Dadu

Islamabad: Most parts of Pakistan are in the grip of severe heat wave which is likely to continue during the week.

Met Office informed that most parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan experienced very hot weather on Sunday due to third heat wave of the current season. The mercury level in most areas have crossed 45°C, and the highest maximum temp was recorded 49°C in Dadu, and 42°C in Islamabad. The intensity of current heat wave is likely to further increase during next 2 days, and the day temps are also expected to increase from 2-3°C in most parts of the country during the period.

Met Office further informed that day temps of northern areas are also increasing gradually. Warm and Hot weather is also predicted in the northern areas during next few days. The abnormally high temps of northern areas may trigger large scale snow-melting during the week. Due to snow-melt, the flow of water in the hilly streams and local rivers of Gilgit-Baltistan and Malakand Division (especially in Gilgit, Chitral and Swat rivers) is expected to increase from mid week.
