Lahore: A delegation from Sindh Government’s 7th Civil Services Training Program recently visited the Central Police Office in Lahore to explore advancements in law enforcement techniques and service delivery used by the Punjab Police.
According to Punjab Police, Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar outlined the force’s dual focus on crime prevention and enhancing service quality during the visit. He highlighted the use of QR codes for all police documents as a significant step towards transparency and efficiency, noting positive public feedback that aids in service improvement. Dr. Anwar stressed the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in addressing public grievances and expediting justice. He also discussed the ongoing expansion of Safe City technologies across Punjab, indicating that such initiatives are vital for modern policing.
The session included briefings from various senior officials. Additional IG Operations Shehzada Sultan detailed the professional handling of law and order, including the technological upgrades at border check posts and recent successful counter-terrorism efforts. DIG Investigation Azhar Akram and DIG Welfare Ghazi Salahuddin elaborated on investigative techniques and welfare initiatives, respectively. AIG Inspection Shaista Nadeem presented measures for women’s protection, while AIG Admin Dr. Rizwan Ahmad Khan covered administrative strategies.
SSP Mustansir Feroz introduced the trainees to community policing efforts, particularly highlighting the success of the “Mera Pyara App,” an AI-enabled tool that has notably aided in reconnecting lost children with their families.
The delegation toured the 1787 IG Complaint Center, Monitoring and Control Room, and other key facilities, providing the trainees with a comprehensive view of the operational dynamics within the Punjab Police. The visit concluded with IG Punjab presenting the delegation leader with a book on the transformation of police stations in Punjab, symbolizing a shared commitment to law enforcement modernization.
