Karachi: Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries Syed Najmi Alam, along with Secretary Livestock Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, visited the International Center of Chemical and Biological Sciences at Karachi University in a bid to enhance the livestock sector in Sindh. The visit was intended to explore opportunities for collaboration in establishing Genomic and Embryo laboratories as part of the World Bank-assisted Sindh Aquaculture and Livestock Sector Transformation project.
According to Chief Minister Sindh, the collaboration aims to improve the production potential of notable breeds in Sindh, including Kundhi Buffalo, Red Sindh Cattle, Tharparkar Cattle, Kankrej Cattle, and selected goat and sheep breeds. Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman and Prof. Dr. Shahid Mansoor provided detailed presentations on the role of the International Center in advancing research and development in this sector. The delegation, including Dr. Hezbollah Bhutto, Dr. Nazeer Hussain Kalhoro, Dr. Abdullah Sethar, Dr. Mubarak Jatoi, Dr. Zulfiqar Pathan, and Mr. Imtiaz Daudpoto, toured various facilities and expressed their commitment to collaborative efforts.
“This partnership will revolutionize Sindh’s livestock sector, leveraging cutting-edge technology and expertise,” said Mr. Syed Najmi Alam. Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi emphasized the dedication to transforming the livestock industry for sustainable growth and improved productivity.
