Sindh Government Plans to Protect Young Buffaloes from Slaughter

Karachi: The Livestock Department of the Sindh government has announced plans to implement measures aimed at preventing the slaughter of young buffaloes. This initiative was discussed during a meeting led by Syed Najmi Alam, the Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh on Livestock and Fisheries, at his office. The meeting focused on the “Save Buffalo Calves” plan, which aims to boost buffalo production by protecting young animals.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Najmi Alam was briefed on the plan by Dr. Naeem Siddique Ansari, Additional Director of Livestock Animal Husbandry Karachi, and Dr. Safdar Hussain Fazlani, Deputy Director Karachi, with visual presentations. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Secretary Livestock Owais Al Hasan and Director Marine Fisheries Asim. The plan includes developing a model farm for raising buffalo calves, which will subsequently be distributed to needy individuals across Sindh after a period of three months. Public suggestions are being solicited to enhance the plan.

Syed Najmi Alam emphasized the economic impact of slaughtering young buffaloes, citing a loss of 12 billion liters of milk over 12 years, which adversely affects the country’s economy. He has instructed the preparation of a comprehensive report on the program and its immediate implementation.
