Sindh Government to Take Strict Action Against Illegal Fishing

In a determined effort to combat illegal fishing practices, Syed Najmi Alam, Advisor to the CM Sindh on Livestock Fisheries, has announced that strict measures will be enforced against mafias and organized criminal groups involved in such activities across the coastal regions of Sindh. According to Chief Minister Sindh, the announcement came during a meeting on fisheries, presided over by Advisor Alam, with key participants including DG Ali Muhammad Mastoi, Director Marine Asim Karim, and Director Coastal Development Ijaz Ahmed Memon. The advisor emphasized that despite existing bans in coastal areas like Sajawal, Thatta, Badin, and Zero Point, any fishermen found using illegal nets will face immediate arrest, and their equipment will be confiscated and destroyed. The meeting also addressed the protection and expansion of mangrove forests along the seashore, an initiative that Advisor Alam believes is crucial for maintaining the ecological balance and supporting marine life.
