Speaker Iraqi Council of Representative meets Speaker National Assembly

Islamabad, December 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Mr. Osama Abdul Aziz Al-Nujafi has said that Iraq values high its brotherly relations with Pakistan and wanted to further strengthening the existing relations through enhanced economic and parliamentary cooperation. He expressed these views while talking Speaker, National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House, today.

He said that both the countries were facing the menace of terrorism which needed joint efforts to eradicate. He further said that both the brotherly countries were rich in natural resources which can be exploited through joint ventures for the benefit of both the nations. He stressed the need for enhanced parliamentary cooperation. He was of the view that the parliamentary cooperation could play an important role in strengthening the relations between the two brotherly countries.

The Speaker, National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq while welcoming the visiting delegation has said that this visit of Iraqi Parliamentary delegation would prove a landmark in further strengthening existing bilateral relations and to bring both the brotherly countries more closer.

He said that Pakistan and Iraq were intertwined in eternal bonds of religion, brotherhood and culture and give immense importance to its relations with Iraq. He said that the bonds of brotherhood could further be cemented through parliamentary friendship. He said that Pakistan would certainly like to take part in the development of Iraq by export of skilled and unskilled labour, medical doctors and engineers.

The Speaker said that the visit of Iraqi Parliamentarians after a break of more than two decades was rejuvenation of long outstanding relations between brotherly countries. He was confident that during the meetings between the Pak-Iraqi parliamentarians, both the sides would exchange views, share experiences and explore further possibilities of parliamentary as well as economic cooperation.

The delegation earlier witnessed the proceedings of the House. They were welcomed by the Leader of Opposition and other members of all the political parties in the National assembly.
