Iraqi Parliamentary delegation accorded warmly welcome

Islamabad, December 05, 2013 (PPI-OT): An Iraqi Parliamentary Delegation led by Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Mr. Osama Abdul Aziz Al-Nujafi arrived at Nur Khan Airbase today on a three days official visit to Pakistan.

Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Deputy Speaker National Assembly along with Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, Convener of the Pak-Iraq Friendship group and senior officials of the National Assembly Secretariat warmly welcomed the visiting delegation.

While talking to the Speaker of the Iraqi Council, Deputy Speaker said that Iraq and Pakistan are bonded in the eternal ties of religion, culture and history and there is commonality of views and perceptions of both the countries on all regional and global issues. He also expressed the need for increase of contacts between the Parliamentarians and political leadership of the two countries as well as people to people contact.

Speaker of the Iraqi Council said that Pakistan is our second home and we are brethren countries. “Pakistan strength is Iraq strength and we wanted to see Pakistan strong and prosperous”, he said. He said that Iraq also values high its relations with Pakistan and wanted to further strengthen the bilateral relations.
