Islamabad, July 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf has said Parliament is the only platform that promotes public friendly legislation. He said that Parliamentary forums like Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC), Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR), Parliamentary Task Force on SDGs, Young Parliamentary Forum (YPF) provide unparalleled assistance to parliamentarians for furthering the cause of effective legislation. He expressed these views while inaugurating the Directorate of Parliamentary Forums at Parliament House Islamabad, today.

While appreciating the efforts of the Special Initiatives Wing to create the Directorate of Parliamentary Forum, he said Directorate aims to create a platform that facilitates the active engagement of citizens in shaping policies, legislation, and governance. He further stated that the Directorate of Parliamentary Forums would also serve as a bridge connecting the public with their elected representatives, empowering them to contribute their ideas, concerns, and suggestions effectively.

The Speaker added, “The Directorate of Parliamentary Forums shall turn a new chapter in our parliamentary history, we aim to prioritize citizen engagement and to harness the power of technology to strengthen our democratic institutions. We are eager to witness the positive impact it will have on our legislative processes and the lives of our citizens.”
