Spring Tree Plantation Drive Begins at Margalla Hills National Park

Islamabad: The Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination has launched a spring tree plantation campaign in Margalla Hills National Park, marking a significant step towards environmental conservation.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board and Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change, Ayesha Humera Ch, initiated the campaign by planting a sapling at Trail 5 of the national park. She was joined by Joint Secretary Muhammad Jamil, Deputy Director Muhammad Saleem, and officials from the Upscale Green Pakistan Programme and the IWMB.

The ceremony saw attendance from a wide range of society, including students, teachers, government officials, media personnel, and members of civil society organizations. Secretary Ayesha Humera Moriani highlighted the importance of trees as essential components of the ecosystem, emphasizing their role in combating pollution.

Moriani stated that the campaign aims to expand on a larger scale this year by engaging communities and promoting sustainable practices. She addressed the attendees, underscoring the need for community-based conservation of the national park’s natural resources.

The Ministry has involved school children in the drive, with students participating by planting fifty saplings, showcasing their dedication to environmental stewardship. Moriani called on all stakeholders, including communities and civil society organizations, to collaborate with the government in this initiative for a greener Pakistan.
