Srinagar: Residents of Srinagar and surrounding regions in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir took to the streets in a large procession following Friday prayers to voice their disapproval of the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the procession in Budgam was led by prominent All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Agha Syed Hasan Al Moosvi Al-Safvi. Demonstrators chanted, reflecting their support for Hasan Nasrallah and their resilience against what they perceive as aggression, exemplified by slogans such as, “How many Hasan Nasrallahs will you kill, Nasrallah will come out of every house.” The imagery of Hasan Nasrallah was also prominently displayed by the marchers.
Additional protests were reported along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway in the Singhpora area of Baramulla district, further underscoring the regional unrest over the situation in Gaza and Lebanon.
The sentiments of the protestors were encapsulated by remarks from participants, including one who highlighted Nasrallah’s legacy in fighting for Palestinian rights. Muzamil, another demonstrator, expressed the broader impact of Nasrallah’s death, stating it had sent shockwaves globally and reinforced the need to oppose oppression universally.
