Statement of CRPF witness in Shopian killings recorded

Srinagar, March 16, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the one-man Commission, probing killing of four persons in the firing of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Shopian district last year, recorded the statement of a witness produced by the paramilitary force before it.

The commission headed by Justice (Retd), M L Koul, also directed the counsel for CRPF to ascertain and collect the FIRs from the district police regarding the credentials of all the deceased youth killed in the CRPF firing.

Four persons were killed at Gagran in Shopian district on September 7 on the day when renowned orchestra conductor Zubin Mehta performed at famed Shalimar gardens in Srinagar. The puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, ordered a judicial probe into the killings following which the commission was constituted.
