Strengthening Higher Education is Hallmark of Government: DPM

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said strengthening Pakistan’s higher education system and imparting knowledge through the highest standards of quality, transparency, and excellence are the hallmarks of this government. He was chairing a committee meeting held in Islamabad today to review the existing Guidelines for the Establishment of Universities and Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, the committee reviewed the draft 2026 HEC Regulatory Framework for the Establishment and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions in Pakistan. The relevant stakeholders provided a detailed briefing to the committee about this policy. The committee appreciated the efforts of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and recommended improvements in certain areas.

Ishaq Dar further directed HEC to incorporate the recommendations provided by this committee and submit the revised draft to the Ministry of Federal Education for onward submission to the Federal Cabinet for approval.
