Sustainable Water Management Vital to Address Climate Change: Pirzada

Islamabad: Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada has emphasized the need for sustainable and innovative water management strategies, including rainwater harvesting, to tackle the growing challenges posed by climate change. Talking to environmentalist and social activist Shahdia Kausar Farooq, he expressed concern over Pakistan’s increasing vulnerability to climate-related disasters, including floods, heavy rainfall, and recurring droughts, which are impacting communities and threatening food security.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted the importance of accelerating water conservation efforts and restoring declining groundwater levels while ensuring the efficient use of available water resources. He announced the installation of rainwater harvesting systems on the rooftops of major buildings under the Ministry of Housing and Works. This initiative aims to strengthen water conservation and enhance climate resilience.
