Ten members delegation of exporters /growers of Dates visiting Kuala Lumpur

Karachi, November 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): A Ten Members Delegation of the Exporters /Growers of Dates are leaving to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur and Penang from 16th November,2014, after the efforts of the Chief Executive Mr.S.M.Muneer),Secretary,TDAP (Mst.Rabiya JaveriAgha)and Director General Agro Food Division.

The delegation will meet with State Minister for Penangand Malaysian Chamber of Commerce, Penang and Dates Importers of Malaysia ,Penang. Delegation also will meet with the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur and various importers of Dates.

Pakistan is one of the leading Dates growing countries of the world, but our exports has no tangible share in the world’s exports. On an initiative from TDAP Commercial Sections of Malaysia appreciate the market exploration trade delegation of Dates grower and exporters to for fresh and dry dates in both countries.

2. Our export of Dates confined to dry dates to India and Nepal and small volume of soft/ fresh dates to Republic of China (on top) UK, USA, Singapore, Australia and Germany. Europe and other countries dates are used as common item in Breakfast menu as best human diet as in snacks, with cereals with yogurt, date syrup is considered as healthy drink, vinegar pickle and confectionary items. Grade C dates of Assel and Mekrammix are used for baking purposes in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy and Malaysia.

3. During an interaction session with concerned Agriculture Chambers and exporters, they informed that China’s importers are interested in quality dates of Assel, they after necessary processing and repacking export it to Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia and other parts of world.The Chinese buyers are shy to visit Pakistan due to security concerns.The Malaysian date market is dominated by Arabian date verities, but it needs C grade dates for baking purposes that we can supply easily.

4. In order to fully avail this opportunity, especially in the perspective of market exploration and penetration for better market share TDAPhas constitute a delegation comprising ofnine (10) delegates (growers/exporters)to visit Malaysia16 to 21 November.
