Tension in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur District After Communal Clash

Bhopal: Tension gripped Baronda village in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur district after clashes erupted between Hindu and Muslim communities over a disputed mazar. The altercation resulted in injuries to four individuals, including a woman, as stone pelting ensued, raising concerns among local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the conflict arose on Monday night when the mazar was painted saffron, prompting complaints from the Muslim community. Mediation efforts by local authorities, including the Naib Tehsildar, failed and the situation escalated into violence. In response, security personnel were deployed, and a flag march was conducted to restore order in the area.

Burhanpur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Sapna Anurag Jain stated that the area surrounding the mazar has been cordoned off and that CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those responsible for the unrest. “Representatives from both sides will be called for discussions to resolve the issue peacefully,” Jain said.

The incident marks the third occurrence of such communal tension in the region in recent months, with reports suggesting that Hindutva elements may be exacerbating the situation for vested interests.
