Thar Block-II Coal Mine Phase-III Expansion Inaugurated

Islamabad:Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari have inaugurated the Phase-III expansion of the Thar Block-II Coal Mine.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Sindh Chief Minister stated that the Phase-III project will increase the coal production capacity from 7.6 million to 11.2 million tonnes annually.

The project is being completed with 100 percent self-financing and will enable the 660-MW Lucky Electric power plant to operate on Thar coal. Consequently, the total electricity generation from Thar coal is expected to rise to 1,980 MW.
