Third sitting of 255th Session of Senate held under the chairmanship of Senator Mian Raza Rabbani

Islamabad, November 22, 2016 (PPI-OT):The third sitting of 255th Session of the Senate was held under the chairmanship of honourable Chairman Senate, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani at 2 p.m. at the Parliament House on Tuesday, the 22nd November, 2016. In this session, all the adjournment motions laid before the house were termed inadmissible by Chairman Senate, Senator Mian Raza Rabbani.

He also heard the proposal of repatriation of elephant in Islamabad Zoo and argued that the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat discussed in detail the unending plight of the elephant, and reached to a conclusion that he would be repatriated soon and would be replaced by two more elephants in the zoo. He further added that the matter was discussed with Chairman CDA and soon the repatriation of lonely elephant would be materialized.

Senator Maulana Hafiz Hamdullah highlighted an important issue which was occurred in Sialkot, where transgender woman was brutally tortured because she refused to pay the extortion money to the gang leader. He condemned the atrocities against transgender and demanded for them equal rights and protection as the citizen of Pakistan. Honourable Chairman Senate, heard the issue and referred the matter to the Committee on Marginalized Sections of Society who have to present its report within 2 months, that what legislation would be required.
