Three people dead in fresh violence as more clashes reported in Manipur

New Delhi, July 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):The deaths of at least three people, including a policeman were reported in clashes between Kuki Christian tribe and Indian security forces in Kangpokpi district of Manipur state of India. Violence which began in early May has led to the deaths of nearly 200 people and displaced over 60,000, mostly members of Christian tribe.

Head Constable Lenglam Dimngel, who was on duty at the village, was killed during clashes in Haraothel village between security forces and militants. The clashes also led to led to several injuries in addition to the deaths. The Imphal Free Press reported that killing triggered further clashes between women activists and Manipur police in Imphal.
