Two officers of motorway police awarded with president police medal on good performance

Islamabad: The Honourable President of Pakistan has conferred two officers of National Highways and Motorway Police awarded President Police Medal on their bravery and good performance. As per details, last year in an incident, on the night of 09th November 2010 two officers of motorway police SPO Aftab Ahmed and PO Sagheer Ahmed foiled an attempt of robbery in a bus through commando action on GT road in the area of Lalamusa (Gujrat) and busted a notorious Gang which was involved in numerous dacoities. After exchange of firing one culprit namely Imran Hussain s/o Muhammad Ibraheem arrested in injured condition who later died due to severe injuries.

The other members of the Gang were also arrested; arms and ammunitions were also recovered. A judicial inquiry of was also ordered by the government to know the real facts. During judicial inquiry done by District and Session Judge Kharian Mr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ranjha declared that it was a true incident, and appreciated the bravery and performance of these NH and MP officers.

The names were recommended by the department for police medals and finally the Honourable President, Islamic Republic of Pakistan has conferred the awards of President Police Medal (PPM) on the bravery of SPO Aftab Ahmed and PO Sagheer Ahmed. Today a simple ceremony was arranged to décor the awards to these two officers. Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police Wajid Ali Khan Durrani decorated the awards the chest of these officers and congratulated them on receiving these awards. IG, NH and MP Wajid Ali Khan Durrani while speaking with the media said that it is the highest recognition of bravery in the police department.

He added that he himself have been awarded Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM) and President Police Medal (PPM). He said that the officers of motorway police will remain set the examples of bravery in saving the lives of the people. He also added that the two officers of NH and MP have also been awarded with Tamgha-e-Shujaat and the President of Pakistan has been decorated these awards on 23rd March this year. He said that the officers of NH and MP are patrolling round the clock, due to which we have been able to down the crime rate by more than 85% on motorways and highways.
