U.S. Ambassador Blome Commends Pakistan’s Support for Afghan Refugees in Meeting with Minister Muqam

Islamabad: U.S. Ambassador Donald Blome met with Minister of States and Frontier Regions Amir Muqam to express gratitude for Pakistan’s enduring support of Afghan refugees and to discuss ongoing U.S.-Pakistan cooperation on refugee issues. The meeting highlighted the recent steps Pakistan has taken to improve the situation of refugees, including the extension of Proof of Registration cards.

According to Embassy of the United States of America, the ambassador praised the Pakistani government for its positive measures towards enhancing refugee protection and for facilitating the resettlement of Afghans to the United States. The discussions also reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to assisting Afghan refugees and the local communities in Pakistan that are hosting them.
