Union of Small and Medium Enterprises congratulates the Prime Minister and invited his attention to a very serious omission of non inclusion of a business leader from Small to Medium sized sector in the Council of Business Leaders

Karachi, October 05, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) whilst congratulating the prime minister (PM) Imran Khan has invited his attention to a very serious omission of non inclusion of a business leader from the Small to Medium sized sector (SME) in the Council of Business Leaders (CoBL) formed by him. President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver pointed out that the SME sector is the majority sector and comprises of manufacturers, traders, services providers, farmers and 96 % of all business entities are SMEs.

There are more than 6 million SMEs and much more than the SMEs are the micro entrepreneur and it is indeed very sad and unfortunate that the PM has inadvertently omitted to include a representative of the majority sector in the CoBL formed and announced yesterday.

Thaver said the CoBL would be incomplete and imperfect without the inclusion of a representative from the majority sector as this sector contributes to 35% of GDP, 30% to exports and is a vehicle for employment. It is also considered the engine of growth. In fact the value addition is done by the SME sector and the primary sector which is farming and is a source of raw material is significant and employs many people.

He urged the PM to include a representative of UNISAME in the CoBL and enable the council to serve all categories of businessmen and the country at large with best advise from all segments of society for increasing the scope of business, investment, employment and growth of economy on fast track.
