Union of Small and Medium Enterprises demands fair treatment for relieved Quality Review Committee staff

Karachi, December 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises has demanded just and fair treatment and urged the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) not to delay payment of dues to the relieved staff members of the disbanded Quality Review Committee (QRC) as they are facing hardships due to joblessness and holding back of their funds.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the QRC staff has approached the UNISAME for help. Thaver said we were against the system and sought closure of QRC but requested REAP members and TDAP to absorb the staff and not to leave them stranded or alternatively give them golden handshake.

The TDAP had promised the relieved staff golden handshake but a period of five months has passed without any payment nor did the TDAP give them employment in any other department nor the promised one month salary for every year of service.

It is learnt from reliable sources that the auditors have not been able to give a clearance for the utilization of the QRC funds by the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and are still not able to reconcile the accounts due to some differences of Rupees 80 millions in the funds.

The QRC staff is of the opinion that this matter is between TDAP and REAP and the QRC staff is not liable for unsatisfactory evidence of expenditure provided by REAP as they were on fixed salaries and not accountable for accounts which were managed by REAP.
