Union of Small and Medium Enterprises invite attention of Sindh ministry of irrigation to apprehension of damages to crops, livestock due to flood water expected to enter Sindh

Karachi, September 08, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has invited the immediate attention of the Sindh ministry of irrigation to the apprehension of damages to crops, livestock and damages to warehouses and displacement of SME farmers and villagers due to flood water expected to enter Sindh from Kashmore to Thatta on its way to river Indus and urged the ministry to take preventive measures to minimize the damage to life and property.

President UNISAME said it is really unfortunate that the ministry neglects the maintenance of the protective gates and does not reinforce them from to time. No repairs are carried out regularly and almost every year when there is heavy flow of floods due to heavy rains the water infiltrates and there is loss to standing crops, livestock and storage yards.

He called upon the senior member Sindh board of revenue (BOR) who by virtue of his post is also the relief commissioner to take precautionary measures immediately and order the repairs of the water channels to stop the flood water from entering the villages and causing damage.
