United Nations Global Compact panellists emphasize on combating discrimination and harassment as essential for building respectful workplace

Karachi, July 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): Combating discrimination and harassment is a prerequisite for building respectful workplace and promotion of merit culture. The 6th principle of UNGC calling upon business to eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation is a meaningful tool which can help promote a merit culture which is the most important need business in Pakistan must realize.

This was emphasized by the panellists in a panel discussion organized by UN Global Compact Network Pakistan in collaboration with Innovative Keys on the eve of a one day conference on the Framework of Respectful Workplace “Merit Culture” held at hotel Marriott, Karachi recently.

The panellists included Mr. Kalim Siddiqi, former Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Pakistan State Oil, Mr. Ahsanullah Khan and Mr. Fasihul Karim Siddiqi, President and Secretary, Global Compact Network Pakistan, Mr. Nusrat Ali a renowned national trainer, Ms Shirin Naqvi, President, Institute of Leadership, Majyd Aziz a renowned industrialist.

The conference and panel discussion was attended by a cross section of business, academia, professionals, NGOs and civil society.
